Hello, and welcome!

My name is Elizabeth and I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist.

In my private practice I deliver 1-1 CBT sessions for people experiencing anxiety and depression.

Working in a caring supportive role has been a theme throughout my life.  Over the last 25 years I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of client groups in a variety of settings.

My passion

Psychology, and understanding how to best support others has always been a passion of mine.  Whilst studying I developed a real interest in the development of mental health conditions, diagnosis, medications and treatments.

It was this fascination that motivated me to train in CBT and become a Psychotherapist.  CBT is a psychotherapeutic method that has been widely researched and empirically supported.

Supporting & helping others

It is very rewarding to witness people transition from struggling to being fully present in their lives, and I feel very privileged to be able to facilitate a part of that journey.

Apart from being studious, inquisitive, and analytical, I would describe myself as kind natured, warm and compassionate.  My family, friends and colleagues say I am loyal, reliable, conscientious, passionate, understanding and a great listener!

New learning

CBT has proven effective in the treatment of various mental disorders.

Making new connections

The therapeutic interventions used in CBT involve restructuring thoughts, modifying feelings and behaviours.

Updating the brain

This new learning means neurons in the brain are firing and wiring together making new synaptic connections and altering brain functioning.

My philosophy

It’s common to identify with more than one disorder.  Individual differences mean people often don’t fall neatly into categories.  Relationships matter.

Understanding Needs

Clinical assessment and enquiry into the development of your problems will inform future therapy sessions and help you move closer to your therapy goals.

A good strong therapeutic relationship is essential so that we can work as a team.

Creating solutions for others

That means you can rely on me to put you at ease, create a warm and non-judgemental space and show understanding and empathy for your situation.

I aim to instill hope and inspiration and share with you the tools and techniques to help you live the life you want!
